While I worked as a professional photographer who traveled widely and was published / exhibited, I shifted away from identifying primarily as a photographer a long time ago. This shift was in large part because the experiences I had photographing were so transformative that I changed as result. In my twenties having a camera around my neck was like having a permission slip or all-access-pass of sorts. Photographing enabled me to go places I did not really belong and helped me figure out where I do. I remain a lifelong photographer, with more gratitude than ever for all photographing has to offer.
