A Sense of the Sacred
Photographing the role of chaplains in health care was a transformative experience. I witnessed the commitment, empathy and skill of these spiritual care givers as they engaged patients throughout New York metropolitan area hospitals. Chaplains stay in the room and at patient's bedsides, even as other health care professionals come and go. This persistent presence and its impact on patients ultimately influenced my decision to work in health care and still effects the way I relate to people who are my patients. A Sense of The Sacred was published as book and distributed to hospitals and seminaries throughout the US by the Healthcare Chaplaincy, an organization devoted to providing pastoral care to people of all faiths.
